Garrett Arney

Garrett’s richness of sound identifies his sincereness and intellectual curiosity in his performance. His passion for developing the genre of percussion music has inspired many composers and musicians through creative collaboration and workshops.

As a collaborative percussionist, Garrett is a co-founder of “arx duo” and has performed all over the world as a duo. He has also worked with a variety of chamber groups and performers including Sandbox Percussion, Ensemble Connect, The Dover String Quartet, Jason Treuting, Henry Kramer, and many more. He has also worked with many composers including Steven Mackey, Jonathan Bailey Holland, Juri Seo, and many more to bring new works to life.

He has performed in many concert halls around the world including performing the Carnegie Hall premiere of Steven Mackey’s “Micro-Concerto”, and performed concertos with Symphony Tacoma, Boise Philharmonic, Missoula Symphony, Artosphere Festival Orchestra, and more. In addition he’s brought projects to premiere venues in Japan, Africa, and the UK including the Royal Albert Concert Hall. Garrett has held guest faculty positions at Peabody Conservatory, Michigan State University, and Cleveland State University, temporary professorship positions at Michigan State University and Central Missouri University, and taught and performed in numerous summer programs including at the Curtis Institute of Music, Artosphere Music Festival, Lake George Music Festival, and more. He also served as a teaching artist for schools and community centers throughout the Five Boroughs of New York City as part of his two year fellowship with Carnegie Halls Ensemble Connect. Currently he is Lecturer of Percussion at the University of Kansas

Garrett studied with Robert van Sice at the Yale School of Music and Peabody Conservatory, and with Gwen Dease at Michigan State University. He now lives in Seattle where he runs his 501(c)3 Non Profit, Arx Music Association. He is sponsored by Vic Firth, Pearl Percussion, Adams Instruments, and Zildjian Cymbals.

Terry Longshore

Terry Longshore is a percussionist whose genre-crossing work exhibits the artistry of the concert stage, the spontaneity of jazz, and the energy of a rock club. Based in Ashland, Oregon, he maintains an energetic career as a performer, composer, and educator. Blue Sky Music writes, “Longshore’s understated virtuosity is percussion poetry at its best.” He performs internationally as a soloist and ensemble member, collaborates with artists working in diverse media, and has premiered and recorded numerous works. He also champions new solo and chamber works for percussion by commissioning, organizing, and participating in consortium commissions for works from a diverse body of composers. Longshore is a Marimba One Vibe Artist, an artist endorser for Black Swamp Percussion, Zildjian Cymbals, Vic Firth Sticks and Mallets, Remo Drumheads, Gon Bops Percussion, and Beato Bags, and is a trained HealthRHYTHMS facilitator. Longshore is currently touring his solo program, “balance | flow – an intermedia percussion experience” featuring the music of Mark Applebaum, Erik Griswold, Yaz Lancaster, Joe W. Moore III, Emma O’Halloran, Phong Tran, Nick Zammuto, and mackxswell and Terry Longshore. He serves as Professor of Music, Artist in Residence and Director of Percussion Studies at Southern Oregon University.
